St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend

27-29 June

The St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend is a celebration of nature, culture and community, where you can indulge in delicious local food while losing yourself in creative storytelling and cultural heritage experiences, all set amongst the serene beauty of the wetlands, under the timeless gaze of the breathtaking Croydon Range. The event is one hour and 45 minutes south of Ooralea Waters, but camping and glamping is available if you want to make a weekend of it.

Mackay Festival of Arts

27 June – 10 August

The event calendar for the 38th annual Mackay Festival of Arts is jam-packed with a huge range of performances, exhibitions and experiences that celebrate all the things that make Mackay such a special place to live. Among the family-friendly events, music events, art exhibitions and culinary events, running day and night, there is literally something for everyone. Seriously, if you can’t find something you love you’re just not looking hard enough!

Mackay Motor Show

5-6 July

Every two years, the most amazing hot rods, muscle cars, and customised American classic vehicles descend on Mackay from across Australia to participate in the Mackay Motor Show, which is part of a seven-round series to qualify for the Elite Category of Meguiar’s MotorEx Melbourne. As well as the motorised eye candy, the show will feature live music from local artists and entertainment for the kids.

Be Social Festival

24 June

From midday to 11pm Harrup Park will come alive with nationally and internationally recognised artists including Grinspoon, Vera Blue, 360 and San Cisco. Suitable for ages from 15 to 50 (and beyond!) and with food truck to satisfy hungry festival goers, the Be Social Festival is a highlight on the Mackay social calendar.

Wisely Wine & Food Day

20 July

Mouth-watering morsels, beautiful beverages and marvellous music. Who could ask for more? Sponsored by the Wisely Group, the Wisely Wine & Food Day is part of the Mackay Festival of Arts. The opportunity to taste craft beers, wines and ciders, street eats and lunch experiences, while being immersed in music is not to be missed! Head to Queens Park for the 10:30am start. Entry is free.

Daly Bay Illuminate

24-27 July

If you’re in the Mackay city centre from 6-9pm, don’t be surprised when you see enormous illuminated frogs projected onto the city’s iconic buildings! The Daly Bay Illuminate will feature eight of these amphibious installations, as well as spectacular artworks by local and national artists. The city’s retailers are being encouraged to stay open for the event, to create a vibrant buzz the likes of which Mackay has never seen!
